Ok...so to tell the truth, there really were no troubles.  I had been hanging out with my newborn baby when the soap wave struck, but Maternity Leave doesn't really rhyme with anything.  I think my biggest trouble was that I didn't really fit into any of my pants yet, and I couldn't find a spare moment to myself to shower, drink a quiet cup of coffee, or anything at all.  Thus is the life of a mother of two boys!

So sometime in the spring of this past year, I had an oppourtunity to take a soap workshop.  I dressed in my hippy-est clothes, and toddled off to Everdale Organic Farm for the day to have all the mysteries of soap making revealed...and a little bit giddy at the thought of three whole hours to myself.

I loved it.  The time toEvery single second of it.  I loved the science, the precise measurements, the slightly terrifying allure of working with lye, and the art that went into stirring, adding the extra ingredients for colour and scent.  And then the careful wrapping of my finished soaps for the drive home.  The unwrapping the next day, and the slicing of the fresh loaf...like slicing through a brick of butter that had been sitting on the counter for a half an hour.

And then there was the waiting.  Waiting for the soap to cure...that was the part I didn't like.  (And to this day it's my least favourite part!)

Chuffed with my newfound talent, I began making more.  And more.

One day I sealed my fate, and posted some pictures of my soap on Facebook.

"Ohh...I want some" said my friends.  "Will you sell it?"

"Do you do wholesale orders?" a friend of a friend asked, the owner of a lovely little shop in Brockton village in Toronto.

Ummm...sure I do!

And thus, a soap business was born.  More pictures.  More orders. Lather, rinse and repeat!  (Haha, get it?  A soap joke!)

So here we are.  Now I have a business card.  A website.  A marketing guru. And soap.  Hoo boy, do I have soap!

So what are you waiting for?  ;)
